How Comedians Can Use Live Recordings

If you listen to as many comedian podcasts as I do, eventually you will hear them compare themselves to musicians. I don’t know why they do that, but they do. Maybe it’s because the state of the music industry resembles a hilarious joke.

Whatever the case, there are lots of similarities between pouring your heart out in song form and expressing the exact same feelings in joke form, which is why we at feel that we can be just as helpful to comedians as musicians.

Luckily for the team, I am in a unique position to comment on these similarities as I have tried my hand at both comedy and music. Unfortunately I am only funny as a musician, and can only carry a tune when mocking society. So it goes.

Most of the comics I have seen around town are already recording all their shows, usually just by sticking an iPhone on the stool, so to me seems like an easy fit for anyone who wants to get their recordings out there. Of course, comedy is a slightly different game than music because comics typically work on material for a long time before it’s ready to be recorded, but on the other hand, what if you have an amazing set when you weren’t expecting to? Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to easily distribute it?

We’re working on as many ways as we can think of to leverage the momentum we have going. Unlike my jokes, could be a really great thing for comedy. Got ideas how we could make what we do better? Hit us up!
